Schmitt, former Senior Vice President for Science and Technology of GE and past director of GE’s Corporate Research and Development Center, is President Emeritus of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, past chairman of Motorola Science Advisors and past chairman of the Mobil Corporation’s Technology Advisory Council.
