The enhancement is the result of a strategic alliance between GlobalSpec and PartMiner^R, a leading global supplier of electronic component research tools and procurement services. The agreement, which facilitates the integration of PartMiner’s CAPS database of electronics content into SpecStation for MatrixOne, means that MatrixOne customers now have searchable access to more than 53 million parts from more than 3,300 manufacturers. This enables a wider range of enterprises to realize the value of component supplier management (CSM) such as increased engineering productivity, speed-to-market for new designs, and cost reduction through effective product data management collaboration.

First announced in March 2002, the application provides MatrixOne customers with the cataloging tools they need for their own parts, as well as real-time access to GlobalSpec’s database, the largest repository of searchable mechanical, electrical and optical component data in the world. Users of SpecStation for MatrixOne have access to GlobalSpec’s database representing 35 million parts from more than 1,300 searchable manufacturers. The alliance with PartMiner augments GlobalSpec’s database with PartMiner’s CAPS database, a vendor-neutral repository of electronic component information, covering over 18 million part numbers and over 2,000 manufacturers.

For those enterprises in need of a searchable e-catalog of electronic components, access to PartMiner’s extensive database will be available as an additional option on SpecStation for MatrixOne.
