Overview

Join us as we dive into the cutting-edge world of light detection and ranging (LiDAR) technology. In this webinar, we’ll explore how LiDAR is revolutionizing the way we perceive and interact with our environment. The technology measures object distances using the time of flight principle, which calculates the duration it takes for light to reflect off an object and return. This time is converted into distance based on the speed of light, approximately 30 cm/ns. Consequently, with an optical pulse width of 1 ns, returning pulses will overlap if the object moves 15 cm. To achieve high-resolution accuracy in captured images, a driving system with very narrow pulse widths is essential. Additionally, a high-power light source is crucial for enhancing object position detection accuracy, extending detection range, improving image definition, and refining object detection algorithms. From enhancing precision in 3D mapping to enabling advancements in autonomous systems, LiDAR’s impact is profound and growing. Discover how this technology works, its applications across various industries, and the role ROHM Semiconductor plays in driving innovation in this exciting field.
