Infrared Temperature Measurement in the Metal Industry

The webinar will provide you with insights into non-contact temperature measurement technology using infrared and its fields of application in the metal industry. Temperature is the key variable for determining process steps and ensuring quality characteristics. Non-contact temperature detection means very fast response times without interfering with the process itself.

Overview

In this webinar, you’ll discover how Optris infrared pyrometers and thermal imaging cameras can significantly improve quality control and process reliability in the metal industry.

From forging and heat treatment to casting and rolling processes, accurate temperature monitoring is essential – yet challenging – due to factors such as high temperatures, varying surface conditions, and changing emissivity.

We’ll explain how Optris devices are specifically designed to meet these demanding requirements. Learn how different spectral ranges, especially short-wavelength sensors, enable precise measurement on hot metals where standard IR sensors often struggle. Understand the importance of correctly setting the emissivity value and how to adjust it for different metals and surface conditions to ensure reliable and repeatable readings.

This webinar will also demonstrate real-world applications and best practices for integrating IR measurement into metal processing lines. Whether you are working with molten metals, hot forming, or continuous production processes, we’ll show how infrared sensors help detect deviations early, reduce scrap, and improve overall process efficiency.

Join this webinar to gain practical insights into optimizing temperature measurement with Optris IR solutions – and learn how to turn thermal data into a powerful tool for quality assurance and process control in metal manufacturing.

Speakers

Ingo Stahlkopf, Head of Sales, Optris GmbH & Co. KG

Ingo Stahlkopf dived into the world of non-contact temperature measurement in 2014. Before that he started his career in 2008 as product manager of a battery manufacturer straight after his studies in economics and engineering at the University of Applied Science in Berlin, Germany. The main topics in this position were technical parts in large scaled backup solutions in international projects, mainly in the energy sector. At Optris he was active for 4 years as regional sales manager before, in 2018, he became in charge of the sales team and its activities as the head of sales at Optris.

Torsten Czech, Head of Marketing, Optris GmbH & Co. KG

Torsten Czech was studying electrical engineering in Berlin and has been working more than 28 years now in the infrared technology business. After some years in different sales positions he was active as product manager for infrared thermometers and cameras before he became Head of Marketing at Optris in 2019.
