Overview

Industrial automation is moving beyond basic sensor connectivity toward more intelligent, data-driven decision-making. As organizations work to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and increase operational efficiency, conventional discrete and analog sensors can limit access to the device diagnostics, parameter data, and standardized communication needed to support modern maintenance and digitalization strategies. This webinar will explore how IO-Link enables smarter sensing by providing standardized, bidirectional access to process, device, and diagnostic data across industrial systems.

Through practical examples and real-world applications, attendees will learn how IO-Link devices and masters can make field-level data available to PLCs, SCADA systems, and industrial analytics platforms to support condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, process optimization, and intelligent asset monitoring. The session will also examine how IO-Link can simplify commissioning, accelerate troubleshooting, and provide a scalable foundation for Industry 4.0 and AI-enabled applications. Whether you are designing a new automation system or modernizing existing equipment, you will gain practical guidance for identifying high-value use cases and deploying IO-Link solutions that improve visibility, strengthen operational resilience, and enable faster, more informed operational decisions.

Key Takeaways

  • Explain how IO-Link enables standardized, bidirectional communication between smart field devices, IO-Link masters, and higher-level control systems.
  • Identify industrial applications where IO-Link can improve visibility, diagnostics, commissioning, and maintenance.
  • Evaluate practical approaches for making IO-Link data available to PLCs, SCADA systems, and industrial analytics platforms.
  • Use process, device, and diagnostic data to support condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, and process optimization.
  • Plan a scalable IO-Link implementation or retrofit strategy aligned with operational and business goals.
