Overview
Anhydrides have been used as thermal curatives for epoxy resins for decades. Anhydride curatives provide ease of handling, good fiber wetting, low viscosity blends, and excellent working times. They also impart an excellent balance of performance properties, including high strength, thermal stability, high Tg, plus resistance to a wide range of chemicals. This presentation will introduce the basics of anhydride curatives for epoxy resins. Attendees will discover various mono- and di-anhydrides, and explore the benefits of blends for high performance applications.
Key Takeaways
- Understand the fundamentals of anhydride thermal curatives for epoxy resins
- Learn how anhydrides contribute to sustainable mechanical, physical, and dielectric properties of epoxy materials exposed to adverse conditions for extended periods
- Appreciate the importance of anhydride selection and the use of blends to optimize processing and performance
