ISO 7779 is concerned with acoustics, measurement of airborne noise emitted by information technology and telecommunications equipment. ISO 9001: 2000 sets out the requirements for a company's quality management systems. These standards range from manufacturing to services including design and development, production, installation and servicing. ISO 9001: 2000 standards have replaced the 1994 ISO 9000 standards. ISO 13485 is concerned with medical devices, quality management systems and requirements for regulatory purposes. ISO 14000 is primarily concerned with "environmental management." This means what the organization does to minimize harmful effects on the environment caused by its activities, and continually to improve its environmental performance. ISO 17025 outlines the general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories. ISO 17020 outlines the general requirements for the competence of inspector or inspection bodies.

NRTL Mark (UL, CSA, TUV, etc.) | Suppliers certify or test to UL, ETL, CSA or other NRTL standards required to obtain an NRTL Mark. The laboratory can issue an NRTL mark, if the laboratory is part of an NRTL or is an authorized agent of an NRTL. The UL Mark denotes that Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) has found that samples of the product met UL's safety requirements. These requirements are primarily based on UL's published Standards for Safety. The CSA Mark may appear alone or with indicators. If it appears alone, it means that the product is certified for the Canadian market, to the applicable Canadian standards. If this Mark appears with the indicator "C and US" or "NRTL/C" it means that the product is certified for both the U.S. and Canadian markets, to the applicable U.S. and Canadian standards. The cUL Mark is applied to products for the Canadian market. Products with this type of mark have been evaluated to Canadian safety requirements. The ETL Listed Mark is the legal equivalent of the UL Listed and CSA Listed Marks throughout the United States and Canada. For over 100 years, dating back to Thomas Edison’s Electrical Testing Laboratories (ETL), “ETL” has been a leader in electrical safety compliance. A product bearing the ETL Listed Mark is determined to have met the minimum requirements of prescribed product safety standards. A product bearing the ETL Sanitation Mark signifies that product has met the applicable ANSI/NSF sanitation requirements. The ETL Verified Mark indicates that a product has been performance tested to verify marketing claims, demonstrate quality or compare to competitive products. The Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) is a part of OSHA’s Directorate of Science, Technology, and Medicine. The program recognizes private sector organizations as NRTL, and recognition signifies that an organization has met the necessary qualifications specified in the regulations for the program. The NRTL determines that specific equipment and materials ("products") meet consensus-based standards of safety to provide the assurance, required by OSHA, that these products are safe for use in the U.S. workplace. UL, CSA, TUV, CCL are examples of NRTLs. NRTLs use their specific “marks” (e.g., UL, S Mark, CSA, etc.) to certify products. NRTLs publish standards that other laboratories use to test and qualify products to.
