HPMB Precision Fiber Reinforced Composite Bearings

Designed to provide excellent dimensional control (inner diameter tolerance IT7 attainable) and class-leading tribological properties, the HPMB bearing features a machinable inner liner, fiber-reinforced composite construction for high strength and impact resistance, corrosion resistance and negligible water absorption, making it ideal for hydropower and industrial applications.
How are they made?
The composite bearing is made using our fibre reinforced composite construction process to ensure that it achieves a low coefficient friction result, whilst remaining dimensionally stable when used under water - meaning it does not swell and absorbs little water.
Using our filament winding process the liner and fiberglass backing are wound under tension and coated in our specially formulated resin mix. The liner itself is the self-lubricating element of HPMB composite bearing which is then supported by the outer filament wound fiberglass backing. An excellent feature of the product is that it is fully machinable which allows us to perfect the inner and outer diameters to our customers’ specifications. The adaptability of the bearings means that our client’s have freedom to precisely modify the dimensions themselves on the spot for an even more precise fit if required. The bearing as a whole has been tested and officially approved by the US Army Corps of engineers - ensuring its high performance functionality, durability and reliability. Also, its low friction properties reduce the waste and long-term costs of maintenance when compared to a conventional bearing.
