The stainless steel BNS40S is suitable to use in hygienic applications with wash down requirements.

The BNS40S is manufactured using high-quality stainless steel, making it resistant to corrosion and cleaning liquids; it meets ECOLAB test requirements for wash down with acid and alkaline-based cleaning agents. The switch and matching coded actuator are also IP69K rated for use in high-temperature (176°F) and high-pressure (1450 psi) wash down applications.

This switch is also available with concealed mounting to offer a continuous smooth surface without visible screws. This rear mounting, combined with other design features like rounded edges and fine-polished stainless steel surface makes cleaning the switch much easier and limits areas where bacteria can grow.

The BNS40S features all of the advantages of our BNS non-contact safety sensor family: integrated LED offering visual status indication; three contacts for safety circuit flexibility; 1, 3, 5 and 10 meter cable lengths; and choice of two coded magnet actuators – offering various mounting arrangements.

Like all other BNS series safety sensors, the BNS40S can be wired to a wide selection of Schmersal safety controllers for improved safety levels, as required. In addition to the ECOLAB certification, the BNS40S is CE and cULus approved, and can be used in safety circuits requiring up to PLe per ISO 13849-1 and SIL 3 per EN61508.
