The servo systems that set a whole new standard in productivity raise the bar even higher as Yaskawa America enhances its Sigma-7 line of rotary, linear and direct drive servo motors and SERVOPACK amplifiers.

System designers and automation end users worldwide are already experiencing the speed, precision and efficiency of Sigma-7, the most technologically advanced servo systems ever created by the world’s largest manufacturer of drives, motion control, and robotics. To enhance productivity, Yaskawa is adding a set of products to its Sigma-7 selection:

  • Matched gear motors expand the low-torque performance of any Sigma-7 servo motor, are custom installed at Yaskawa’s US factory and backed by a full factory warranty
  • A new direct drive servo motor, the SGM7F, sets a new standard for compact size without compromising precision and performance
  • Two new specialty amplifiers. The Sigma-7Siec combines the functions of a one-axis machine controller and a servo amplifier in a single slim package. SigmaLogic7 Compact is the latest in a series of Yaskawa products that work with Add-On Instructions from Rockwell PLCs

All of these products expand the benefits of the full Sigma-7 line of products. Sigma-7’s benefits include twice the bandwidth of Yaskawa’s industry-leading Sigma-5 servos, a 20% smaller footprint and 24-bit encoding that boosts precision to a level 16 times higher than the industry standard.

Sigma-7 products cover a wide range of motion control applications, with rotary servos from 3 W to 55 kW in output. Users can choose from two direct drive servos and four linear products, including a SigmaTrac option designed for easy bolt-on, plug-in implementation. Sigma-7 SERVOPACK amplifiers offer the option of interface via EtherCAT, MECHATROLINK or analog connections.

“Yaskawa’s Sigma-5 servos are already the clear leader in features and performance,” stated Scott Carlberg, Sigma-7 Product Marketing Manager, “and Sigma-7 makes the best in the industry even better.” This is especially important in competitive industries like packaging and electronic assembly, where every incremental productivity improvements yield huge gains in profitability. “Bandwidth and resolution improvement like this will open doors with end users who can’t settle for less than the highest possible speed and the greatest possible precision.”
