The UNE-EN 71-15, UNE-EN 71-16 and UNE-EN 71-17 standards help you comply with European toy regulations and protect children's safety.

Three new UNE standards on the safety of toys intended for children are now available to help you comply with European regulations: Directive 2009/48/EC and Directive 2014/79/EU.

  • UNE-EN 71-15:2025. Specifies the requirements and test method for determining the formamide content in toy foam materials.
  • UNE-EN 71-16:2025. Specifies the requirements and test method for determining the content of chlorinated phosphate flame retardants TCEP, TCPP and TDCP in toy materials.
  • UNE-EN 71-17:2025. Specifies the requirements and test method for determining the concentration of certain isothiazolinones in aqueous toy materials.
These standards complement the existing body of work on toy safety, alongside other standards such as UNE-CEN ISO/TR 8124-8:2024, which covers the determination of age grading for the appropriate use of toy categories.
Rely on technical standards that help you comply with applicable laws, protect children’s safety, and build trust among your stakeholders.
