ULTRA SERIES NOTCH FILTERS
The deep blocking, tight wavelength control, steep edges, and wide-range transmission of ULTRA Series thin-film notch filters all allow for precision blocking of lasers or other light sources, without sacrificing the quality of target signals.

Each hard-coated ULTRA Series optical notch filter is designed and rigorously tested to exceed the the most advanced system requirements. They are all ideal for use in applications such as fluorescence microscopy, endoscopy, and DNA sequencing.

ULTRA Series notch filters can also be custom designed with extremely steep edges for use in Raman spectroscopy applications. In some Raman applications, notch filters are used to block the excitation laser wavelength while simultaneously transmitting both Stokes and anti-Stokes signals to the detector. If the notch edges are not steep enough, then the signals close to the laser wavelength will be lost.

Depending on the wavelength ranges and requirements of your system, ULTRA Series notch filters can be custom designed to meet one or more of the following challenging specifications:

  • Up to OD8 precision blocking by design
  • Up to 99% transmission
  • Notch CWL at any wavelength from the UV to the mid IR (~250 nm to 11 µm)
  • Tolerances as tight as 0.25% of notch CWL
  • TWE as low as 0.01 wave RMS / inch measured at 632.8 nm

Quality and consistency from an innovative thin-film coating process
Alluxa thin-film optical interference filters and dielectric mirrors are all hard-coated using our SIRRUS™ plasma deposition process on equipment that was designed and built by our team. This allows us to reliably and repeatedly produce the same high-performance thin-film notch filters over several different coating runs, which translates to consistent performance across all of your systems.

Why Alluxa
Alluxa is an ISO 9001:2015 certified, ITAR registered manufacturer of high-performance optical filters and thin-film coatings. Alluxa has rapidly grown from a small startup to a world leader in precision thin films. Our engineering team has been instrumental in achieving this growth by refining our advanced SIRRUS™ Plasma Deposition process, designing and building our coating equipment, and dedicating a large amount of resources to research and development. Meanwhile, our leadership team has been reinvesting in the business and creating a progressive company culture that benefits both our customers and our people. Located in Santa Rosa, CA, Alluxa was founded in 2007 by a team of thin film deposition veterans. Alluxa's core team brings together decades of expertise and diverse backgrounds in deposition, automation, metrology, and optics. Alluxa produces its filters with a new class of custom optical thin film coating equipment designed and built by our team. The combination of our state of the art automation, proprietary control algorithms, and a patented plasma thin film deposition process allows the world's most difficult filters to be created in a fraction of the time required by other hard coating methods. Using this proprietary thin film optical coating platform, Alluxa is delivering custom solutions to the most challenging optical coating problems - including bringing lower costs to high performance requirements.
