Proper grounding ensures safety and good power quality. Ground bars (sometimes called Earth bars) provide a convenient way to terminate all the grounds in a panel or system at one convenient point. Green is the standard industry color to show that the wire screws and mounting are easily recognizable as a grounding point. Ground bars are not to be confused with neutral bars. For UL listed industrial control panels, ground bars or terminals must be UL 467 listed.

Ground bars are made of copper and tin-plated. The mounting brackets and screws are green in color to make them easily recognizable as a grounding system in the electrical operations.
