Accelerometers are commonly used for determining the tilt or inclination of industrial assets and systems. By measuring the projection of the gravity vector on the sensitive axis of the sensor, one can easily determine the inclination angle of the system.

For industrial systems operating in vibrating environments, it is crucial for accelerometers to demonstrate high stability and repeatability, even under fast-changing temperature and strong vibration conditions. In order to sense very small changes in the inclination angle, inclinometers must feature low noise and high-resolution capabilities.

After the successful launch of the ± 14 g AXO®315 accelerometer for high performance navigation and positioning, Tronics announces the availability of AXO®301, the second member of its AXO®300 accelerometers series, designed for high precision inclination measurements in industrial applications.

AXO®301 is a low-noise, high resolution, closed-loop digital MEMS accelerometer with ± 1 g input range that offers a performance-equivalent, low-SWaP and cost-effective alternative to force balance inclinometers. It demonstrates an ultra-low noise density of 9 μg/√Hz with an excellent 50 μg resolution to guarantee high accuracy inclination angle measurements.

Similarly to all accelerometers from the AXO®300 product line, AXO®301 embeds a 24-bit digital SPI interface for a swift integration into stand-alone inclinometer module. The built-in self-test ensures initial verification of the sensor’s integrity and continuous in-operation functionality test.
