FM certified explosion-proof temperature sensors
Featured Product from United Electric Controls Company
UE’s Applied Sensor Technologies division is adding three FM certified explosion-proof styles to its temperature sensor portfolio. The styles are available as a 100Ω RTD or mineral insulated thermocouple. FM certification for hazardous areas applies to the complete assembly – both sensor and terminal head. This is an important distinction since common practice has been to pair an explosion proof rated terminal head with an unrated RTD or thermocouple, assuming suitability for hazardous locations. If installed in a hazardous area, this combination would require the unrated sensor with the rated terminal head to be certified as part of the overall system to ensure compliance. These three new FM Certified styles ensure hazardous location compliance as a stand-alone device.
The new styles are as follows:
Style 79 that is available as a 100Ω RTD. This is a new design derived from a popular temperature sensor model used on UE’s ONE Series electronic switch and transmitter product line. This is a temperature monitoring option for applications where a display and set point (i.e. ONE Series) are not required.
Style 83 that is available as either a 100Ω RTD or mineral insulated thermocouple with spring-loaded sheath.
Style 84 that is available as either a 100Ω RTD or mineral insulated thermocouple with a welded process connection.
