Revenue Growth of 35 Percent; Registered User Base Grows by 1MM and Now Exceeds 4MM in Total; e-Newsletter Circulation Surpasses 8.5 Million
Troy, NY – (Business Wire) – 1/22/08 – GlobalSpec (www.globalspec.com), the leading specialized search engine, information resource and e-publishing company for the engineering, industrial and technical communities, today announced that it posted record results for 2007, reaching new milestones in revenue, registered users, new product launches and additional strategic partnerships.
In 2007, GlobalSpec experienced 35 percent revenue growth, marking the sixth consecutive year of high double-digit growth in revenue for the company. The company expanded its global user base by more than one million registered users, now exceeding four million registered users - a number that continues to grow at a rate of more than 20,000 per week. These registered users have the ability to search by over 180 million specifications in 2.3 million product families via GlobalSpec's proprietary database of more than 22,000 digitized and parametrically searchable OEM and distributor product catalogs.
GlobalSpec's suite of targeted e-newsletters focused on very specific industrial products and their related technologies - in areas ranging from electronic components, to building and construction, to wireless technology - also achieved new levels of scale in 2007. Over the past year, Specs & Techs, GlobalSpec's weekly showcase of new products for engineering, technical and industrial professionals, exceeded a circulation level of over 1.2 million. In all, GlobalSpec now publishes more than 57 e-newsletters with a combined opt-in circulation of 8.5 million – the largest e-newsletter circulation in the industrial space.
Over the past year, GlobalSpec extended its reach among its target audiences through a variety of new and enhanced partnerships with significant publishers, publications and associations, including Manufacturing.net, Microwave Journal, NASA Tech Briefs, Autodesk and IEEE.
Additionally, visitors to GlobalSpec now have access to more than 17,000 copyrighted definitions from McGraw-Hill's Digital Engineering Library, in a variety of disciplines including chemical engineering, design engineering, electronics and mechanics.
Two major new products were also launched by GlobalSpec in 2007 – The Industrial Ad Network® and PartFinderSM. The Industrial Ad Network, an online banner advertising network designed to reach members of the manufacturing, technical and engineering communities, has quickly become a leading network for the industrial sector, comprised of over 200 highly focused Web sites. PartFinder is a unique part number search product that offers distributors and other suppliers a way to make their products easily discoverable among a targeted audience, while allowing users to search for millions of specific parts by a number of different criteria, including part number, manufacturer name, distributor name or description.
CR4, GlobalSpec's social networking peer-to-peer community site for industrial professionals, also continued its growth in 2007 with the introduction of industry-based forums and blogs in the areas of Instrumentation, Education, and BioMech/BioMed. CR4 is comprised of active users who contribute questions, answers, stories and discussions in fields ranging from current science and technology news, to major engineering disciplines including electrical, mechanical, optical and civil. It offers visitors the ability to discuss important engineering issues and seek out answers to technical questions in a peer-to-peer collaborative environment.
"2007 has been another highly successful year for GlobalSpec, one that was defined by record-setting levels of revenue and EBITDA growth, user and supplier adoption, and partnership expansion," said GlobalSpec Chairman and CEO Jeffrey M.
