Safety storage cabinets are cabinets or casework for safety applications such as flammable and corrosive securement and storage.
Safety Storage Cabinets
The most important parameters to consider when specifying safety storage cabinets are their capacity and dimensions. The capacity of the storage cabinet is the internal volume available for the storage of materials. The height, depth, and length of the cabinet are measured in feet.
-
Portable cabinets can be moved from one place to another, via wheels or other moving device.
-
Modular cabinets are casework are of similar design so that they may be assembled in various configuations to suit the user's need.
-
Fireproof cabinets are designed to withstand and protect the contents from destruction from fire.
-
Heavy duty cabinets adn casework are built of thicker materials with more support for more weight demanding applictions.
-
Work surfaces are available in some cabinets, which provide the user with a durable surface on top.
Materials of Construction
Safety storage cabinets can be made from many different types of materials. Container material should be selected based on application. Metal containers are strong, inexpensive, and can be resistant to chemicals and corrosion media. Plastics are light weight and can be made into many different shapes. This material is also flexible and has excellent electrical properties but poor temperature resistance. Plastics are generally resistant to corrosive medias but it has a tendency to crack due to environmental stress. Materials such as glass, wood, cardboard, and fabric are also available for containers.
Storage cabinets with special linings are constructed of special materials for corrosive or other special processes. Considerations might also include glass lined or special coatings.
Applications
Common industries and applications that use safety storage cabinets include chemical processing, cosmetics processing, food and beverage processing, oil and fuel processing, paper and pulp processing, pharmaceutical processing, plastic processing, power generation and energy processing, and water applications.
