Configuring Check Point NGX VPN-1/FireWall-1

Check Point has been doing all its research and development on SecurePlatform with other operating systems being done later. SPLAT (SecurePlatform) has been taking over the market since its arrival with Check Point Next Generation Feature Pack 2. We will take a tour of SecurePlatform with the different operating system capabilities and the Check Point supported add-ons to SPLAT. A lot of emphasis has been put on SPLAT by Check Point and many other operating systems have been replaced by an Intel-based system to run SPLAT as their underlying OS to run VPN-1 Pro.
In version NGX, Check Point offers SecurePlatform Pro, which extends the functionality and performance of this operating system.
With the popularity of appliance devices in the market, and the cost-effectiveness of utilizing Intel-based hardware instead of more expensive, proprietary hardware, Check Point is offering more flexible and cost-effective solutions by continuing to develop the SecurePlatform Operating System.
The installation of SecurePlatform is designed to be a very easy process. In this section, we will cover the installation process and the configuration of SecurePlatform using both the Web user interface (WUI) and the command-line tool sysconfig.
To install SecurePlatform using the CD-ROM-based installation, simply power on your machine with the SecurePlatform CD-ROM in the drive. The SecurePlatform installation program automatically starts. When the welcome screen appears, press Enter. The installation program boots and loads the necessary drivers for the hardware it detects.
