The graphical user interface (GUI) allows the user to perform tasks through components of a graphical display. This permits interaction between computer and user when performing a certain task. In MATLAB, there are GUI components available that can be used during the development of a graphical front-end. Listed are some of the components commonly used.

Push Button referred to also as command button, the push button is a rectangular figure that contains a text label usually indicating the action the computer will perform once it is pressed or clicked.

Slider more commonly known as a scroll bar, this is composed of a rectangular trough, a slider, and arrow buttons. This slider, or scroll bar, is mostly used to allow the user to select a value within a range of values by moving the slider along the trough by dragging it with a mouse or clicking on the arrow button.

Radio Button a button with a label on the side. The label indicates the option to which this button represents. An unselected button will have a hallow portion, once selected or clicked on, the hollow portion will be filled with color. This is used to select one or more options which are exclusive of each other.

Check Box its difference with the radio button is its shape. The radio button is usually circular, while the check box is square, and the selected box contains a check mark.
