The British Standards Institution (BSI) is the national standards body (NSB) representing the interests of the UK across all of the European and international standards organizations and through their committees. Independent of government, BSI is globally recognized as an impartial body serving both the private and public sectors.    NBBI / NBIC       Supplier performs services to NBBI (NBIC) codes, rules and guidelines. The National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors (NBBI) created the National Board Inspection Code (NBIC) in 1946, which serves as one of the primary tools for compliance assurance. This code has been adopted by most states and cities in the United States, all Canadian provinces and some US regulatory agencies, including the US Department of Transportation. It is the only code recognized worldwide for the in-service inspection of repairs and alterations of boilers and pressure vessels (BPV). NBIC is available in three volumes:

  • NR Stamp - The National Board offers the Certificate of Authorization and NR symbol stamp for the repair and replacement of nuclear components. The requirements the supplier must meet to be authorized are described in NBIC standards for Repairs and Alterations - NBBI NB-23 PART 3, Section 1.
Authorization Program 
  • NB Mark - The NB mark is used by manufacturers to identify items registered (see Registration) with the National Board.  It is also used by pressure relief device manufacturers and assemblers to identify pressure relief devices that have been certified by the National Board in accordance with NB-501, National Board Certification of Pressure Relief Devices.
 
   PED (EC)       Supplier is certified to or provides services meeting the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) of the European Community (EC) or provides services meeting PED standards.  The Pressure Equipment Directive (97/23/EC) was adopted by the European Parliament and the European Council in May 1997. It has initially come into force on 29 November 1999. From that date until 29 May 2002 manufacturers had a choice between applying the pressure equipment directive and continuing with the application of the existing national legislation. From 30 May 2002 the pressure equipment directive is obligatory throughout the EU. The directive provides, together with the directives related to simple pressure vessels (2009/105/EC), transportable pressure equipment (99/36/EC) and Aerosol Dispensers (75/324/EEC), for an adequate legislative framework on European level for equipment subject to a pressure hazard. 
   U.S. DOT       Supplier provides services meeting U.S. DOT regulations. DOT specifications 4BA, 4BW, and 4E. These specifications are in the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) - Title 49 (Transportation).
