Custom seals from Clark Seals differ from standard seal designs in that they are precisely engineered for each application using an extensive 144 point evaluation process. Every operational variable is analyzed thoroughly and used to adjust and optimize critical design elements. These elements include features such as case design, beam length, flex thickness, spring position, spring tension, head height, interference, contact width, primary and secondary lip geometry, etc. Custom seals from Clark Seals take approximately 7 days to design, cost the same as standard seal designs, and last approximately 7-10 times longer.
• Application Engineering: Clark Seals provides full engineering support for new and existing applications. This service is designed to improve seal performance and extend equipment life. As a seal engineering firm, Clark Seals works closely with equipment engineers to help optimize material and design elements needed for optimum sealing conditions such as: lubricant, materials, fluid level, shaft and housing hardness, surface finish, tolerance, chamfer, eccentricity, etc.
• Problem Seal Analysis: Most problem seals can be diagnosed and redesigned within 24 hours. Our seal engineering team quickly analyzes the failed seal and reviews the equipment and operating variables to determine the exact cause(s) of failure. A custom design is then created in AutoCAD using our proprietary seal optimization protocol and sent to the customer for review. Seal failures are treated as a top priority by Clark Seals and every effort is made to solve the problem within 24 hours.
