Fiber Instrument Sales, Inc. (FIS) was founded in 1985 to fulfill the growing need in the communications industry for fiber optic cables and connectivity equipment. FIS is a manufacturer and full-line distributor of communication fiber optic test equipment, connectors, cable and cable assemblies, tools and tool kits, fiber optic consumable products, Category 5 and 6 active network equipment, and fiber optic security systems and components.

FIS serves over 11,000 customers from all segments of the fiber optics industry including: telecommunications, contractors, resellers/distributors, researchers, government, education, cable TV operations, and telephone R&D facilities. FIS is international in scope, with 35% of its orders coming from 90 countries. FIS Manufactured Products - Products include fiber optic power meters, light sources, talk sets, visual fault locators, optical return loss test sets, pulse suppressors, cable assemblies, connectors, fusion splice protection sleeves, in-line attenuators, connector heat ovens and more.

Distribution - Products distributed by FIS include those of 3M, AMP, Ando, Molex, Seiko, Nettest, Corning, Corning Cable Systems, Clauss, Krone, Alcoa Fujikura, Antec, Garrett Communications, The Light Connection and other major fiber optic suppliers.

Rentals and Pre-owned Equipment Sales - FIS rents test devices, fusion splicers and other fiber optic equipment. Refurbished pre-owned equipment is available through its "New 2 You" Program.

Security Products - FIS has a Security Division that markets an extensive line of fiber optic and copper security systems and products suited to a wide range of applications. These include security cameras, alarm panels and detectors, CCTV systems and equipment, access control panels and more. Security products include FIS' innovative Fiber Fence Perimeter Monitoring System. Fiber Fence provides effective, low cost protection for large perimeters such as those around power plants, water reservoirs, airports, military bases and more.

Custom Manufacturing - FIS offers custom terminations, cut and coil cable service, and custom ferrule drilling. FIS can design and manufacture injection-molded products to customer specifications.

Shipping - FIS maintains one of the largest fiber optic inventories in the industry and provides same-day shipping for most orders. Overnight shipping is available.

Training - The Fiber I and Fiber II training courses are scheduled at locations around the country as well as at its Brightside training facility in the Adirondacks. Protocol Testing and Fiber Fence training can be scheduled for groups. Corporate training also available.

Technical Support - FIS has approximately 150 employees including highly trained engineers and technicians. Ninety percent of all employees have completed its comprehensive Fiber Optic I & II training.

Corporate Headquarters - Fiber Instrument Sales is headquartered at the FIS Research Park in the town of Oriskany in Central New York State. FIS facilities consist of over 90,000 square feet of manufacturing, warehouse, R&D, and administrative office space.
