Global industrial manufacturing continues to focus on the progression toward miniaturization, which has rapidly become the newest development in modern cutting technology. Machines and their components have become much smaller and lighter, constantly raising the demands for manufacturing fine precision parts.

With production of the smallest of components, conventional manufacturing methods are extremely limited. For example, many materials react negatively to the heat effects of thermal procedures such as laser cutting.
