Used throughout nearly every process industry, ROSS Multi-Shaft Mixers are robust and versatile. Available in a variety of configurations, as either dual shaft mixers or triple shaft mixers depending on batch characteristics, Multi-Shaft Mixers accommodate a flexible range of shear input and viscosities up to several hundred thousand centipoise. The mixer''s basic design consists of two or more independently driven agitators working in tandem to ensure fine solids dispersion, efficient turnover and uniform heating/cooling.
The Double Planetary Mixer includes two blades that rotate on their own axes, while they orbit the mix vessel on a common axis. The blades continuously advance along the periphery of the vessel, removing material from the vessel wall and transporting it to the interior. After one revolution the blades have passed through the entire vessel, after three revolutions most materials have been mixed and after only 36 revolutions, the blades have contacted virtually the entire batch.

As the rotating blades pass each opening in the stator, they mechanically shear particles and droplets, and expel material at high velocity into the surrounding mix, creating intense hydraulic shear. As fast as material is expelled, more is drawn into the bottom of the rotor/stator generator, which promotes continuous flow and fast mixing.
