The APCO Rubber Flapper Swing Check Valve is designed for versatility, making it suitable for both clean and dirty service applications. It is an excellent choice for raw sewage, water systems, industrial waste, chemical lines, erosive and corrosive services, ash handling, acid lines, tailings systems, light slurries, leaching lines, scrubbers, as well as brine and saltwater systems.
When determining the valve''s orientation in the pipeline, the primary consideration should be the type of pipeline media. DeZURIK offers specific installation guidelines depending on whether the media is a clean liquid or gas or a dirty liquid or gas containing suspended solids.
If the pipeline media is a liquid without suspended solids or it is a clean gas, DeZURIK suggests that the valve be oriented to have the flow toward the back side of the plug. This is true for both vertical and horizontal installations.
In situations where the pipeline media contains suspended solids or is a dirty gas, consideration should be given to what happens to the solids when the valve is closed, and flow is stopped.
