Dytran Instruments, Inc. of Chatsworth, CA designs and manufactures ring style IEPE and charge mode piezoelectric force sensors for many different applications and environments. These sensors come in a variety of configurations depending upon the magnitude of the dynamic event being measured and the location of the sensor in the machine or fixture. Ring style force sensors exhibit minimal deflection and fast rise time; making them ideal for the measurement of high frequency, high amplitude compressive or tension force phenomenon (when mounted using a preload bolt arrangement, sometimes referred to as a force link).

The industry commonly refers to ring style force sensors as "force washers", due to their similar appearance. These rugged sensors are designed to measure rapidly and/or slowly changing (down to 1Hz) dynamic forces in machinery and other applications where a thru stud or bolt holds the sensor in place in a preloaded condition. These sensors can measure vibratory compressive forces over a wide frequency range. They feature a quartz sensing element housed in a resilient stainless-steel package.

Dytran ring style force sensors are utilized by companies worldwide in the industrial, military/defense, energy and aerospace sectors for machinery studies, press monitoring and process control.

Products are available in a multitude of ranges in three Model Series:  1203, 1210, and 1212. The 1203 Series is known for its small size, with a 1.1 in diameter and 0.4 in thru hole. The 1210 Series is available in both IEPE and charge mode configurations. With its low profile, the 1212 Series is perfect for use in tight spaces.
