Wrap spring clutches are used in
applications where several axis need to be engaged/disengaged and
synchronized
to a rotating main drive axis. By using gears other speeds can also be
realized. Typical examples for applications are paper transportation
in printers, copiers or money handling and money sorting equipment.
EC series wrap spring clutches are powered from a 12 or 24Vdc power
supply and only require very small amount of power of just a few watts
to energize.
There are also passive slip clutches available to limit the impact of the rapid acceleration!
