Optical Filters transmit light within a selective range of wavelengths, while the redundant light is absorbed or reflected, according to which optical filters are divided into two major classifications: reflective or absorbing type of filters. The principle of optical filter is the addition of various kinds of coatings or dyes onto the filter substrate so that the optical media becomes absorptive or reflective to certain bands of wavelengths or a specific line of wavelength. The applications are manifold, ranging from photography, fluorescence microscopes, spectroscopes, clinical chemistry, machine vision inspection, and astronomy.

Bandpass Filter allows light in a specified band to pass through, while light outside the band is rejected.  The light-transmitting band could be located in the UV, VIS, and IR spectral regions according to requirements. In Shalom EO, there is a wide available blocking wavelength range of 200-1200nm, from Ultra-Violet (UV) to Visible and Infrared (IR) spectrum, with a conventional bandwidth of 10nm (narrower bandwidths could be obtained upon request). 

 

Neutral Density Filter is a filter that reduces or modifies the intensity of all wavelengths, or colors, of light homogeneously, giving no changes in the hue of color rendition. Shalom EO offers a wide variety of Neutral Density Filters for Ultraviolet, Visible, and Infrared spectrum.

 

Dichroic Filters transmit the wanted portion of wavelengths while other wavelengths are canceled or reflected through interference, thus being especially suited for precise scientific work, since their exact color range can be controlled by the thickness and sequence of the coatings. Shalom EO offers various Dichroic filters including Longpass Dichroic filters (cut-off wavelength 500-900nm, AOI 45°), Shortpass Dichroic filters (cut-off wavelength 650-950nm, AOI 45°), Dichroic filters for RGB light show, Laser line Dichroic filters (various HR or HT coatings at specific wavelengths, AOI 45°).

 

Notched Filter is also known as a Band Stop filter or Band Reject Filter which separates the spectrum into sections. The light is rejected/blocked in a specific wavelength range named the stop band wavelength range, while passing above and below this band. Shalom EO offers notched filters with lower transmission at rejected wavelength ranges from OD4 to OD6, and high transmission of a minimum of 90% at the transmitting wavelength range (transmission rate could be even greater than 90% available upon custom requests ).

 

Absorptive Filters absorb specific wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation, However, because the unwanted portion of light is absorbed, the filters are susceptible to damage induced by heat and, therefore are not competent for high-power applications. Shalom EO offers optical glass filters with high durability and steadiness reliable under various conditions and for manifold applications. Our standard or customized glass modules offered by Chinese suppliers are identical to those produced by SCHOTT or HOYA.

 

IR Filters are for infrared (IR) applications, with a corresponding wavelength of interest that covers the whole IR range of 0.9μm - 12μm. Any wavelength within the range could be blocked or transmitted/isolated according to your needs, with a high transmission rate that peaks at 98%. 

 

Laser Line Filters are optical filters designed to transmit a narrow band of wavelengths with the transmission peaking at the center laser wavelength. Shalom EO offers laser line filters suitable for various laser types including N2, XeF, Ar, Nd-YAG, GaAIAs, HeNe, etc., with high peak transmissions of >80%, bandwidth of maximum 10nm, and large temperature operation range from -50? to 80? fit under working different condition.
