Cleaning Process / Operation

   Your choices are...
Aqueous Cleaning       Aqueous cleaning machines use water or a water-based cleaning solution to clean and prepare surfaces of parts.
Bioremediation System       Bioremediation systems or cleaners contain active microorganisms and surfactants. Bioremediation is a natural, "green" cleaning process that uses microorganisms to convert oil, grease, or other organic waste from contaminated cleaning-process water into environmentally-armless byproducts. The surfactant constituents in the bioremediation cleaning system clean the parts. The microorganisms or enzymes from the microbes digest and break down the removed oil or grease into benign water and carbon dioxide molecules. The type of organic waste or contaminants determines the specific microrganisms that are selected. ATCC Class 1 microbes are sometimes chosen because they are harmless to humans. American Type Culture Collection (ATCC) is a global bioscience organization.  Strongly caustic or high-alkaline aqueous cleaners are effective in removing grease and oil from parts; however, because these cleaners are very corrosive, special care must be taken to protect workers and equipment. Solvent-based cleaners are also very effective for degreasing applications, but solvents can have low flash points and require environmental permitting. Special care must be taken to protect against sparks or open flame that could cause a fire or explosion of the solvent vapors. Permits may require that measures are taken to recover or minimize the released fugitive solvent vapors. Bioremediation cleaners provide safety and environmental benefits over these solvent or aqueous-based systems. For example, there are no volatile organic compounds (VOC) to contain with these non-flammable cleaning solutions. Bioremediation cleaners are also pH neutral and non-WHMIS controlled. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHIS) is a Canadian system for identifying hazardous materials.
Hot Water Cleaning       The machine uses a heated water supply or steam to enhance cleaning and surface preparation operations.
Solvent / Vapor Cleaning       The machine uses solvent or solvent vapors to clean and prepare surfaces of parts. In solvent vapor degreasers, the solvent is evaporated and then condensed on the parts surface.  The condensed solvent cleans the parts and drips back down into the tank for reclamation or disposal.
Abrasive Enhanced       The abrasive particles are sucked into the gun, nozzle, or lance through a Venturi generation process. Venturi generators use a fast moving stream to create a vacuum that pulls materials into the steam.
Acid Cleaning / Pickling       Pickling uses an acid solution to clean or remove rust, scale, or oxides that even an aggressive cleaning detergent cannot attack.
Alkaline Cleaning       Alkaline cleaners use a basic solution to clean or remove grease, oil, rust, scale, or oxides that even an aggressive cleaning detergent cannot attack.
Dry Cleaning       Dry cleaning refers to a cleaning process that uses a chemical solvent, rather than water
Rotary Brushes       Rotary brushes are rotated at high speeds for cleaning, finishing, and surface preparation applications. The aggressiveness and resulting finish depends upon a variety of factors including bristle materials, brush diameter, part material, and rotary speed.
Tact / Contact Cleaning       Tact and contact cleaners use layers of adhesives or absorbent materials to wick away matter on contact.
Vacuum Systems       Industrial vacuums are capable of picking up large quantities of material and/or liquids. They can be portable devices or part of a central vacuum system.

   Application / Operation:
   Your choices are...
General Cleaning / Surface Prep       Machines used to clean or remove dirt, paint, grease, or other contaminants from a part's surface to meet surface finish requirements or to prepare the surface for additional processing.
Container / Bottle Cleaning       Systems designed for cleaning the interior and/or exterior surfaces of plastic containers or glass bottles.
Critical / Pharmaceutical Cleaning       Machines used to clean or remove contaminants from surfaces of critical parts such as wafers, storage discs or other electronic components, biotechnology devices or pharmaceutical equipment parts. The smallest amount of remaining contaminants on the surface can result in a defect causing the scrapping of the products.
Degreasing       Degreasers or other parts cleaners are suited for degreasing applications.
Descaling / Stripping       Descaling is the removal of heat-treat scale, surface discoloration, oxides, rust, weld scale, or corrosion that ruins appearance and interferes with welding, painting, plating, coating, drawing, and other processes. Stripping is the removal of an existing protective coating or paint layer to facilitate welding, recoating, or adhesive joining.
Dunnage / Pallet Cleaning       Systems designed for cleaning dunnage or pallets.
Sterilizing / Disinfecting       Systems are designed to provide a sterilizing, disinfecting, or pre-sterilizing action on parts or surfaces.
Other       Other unlisted, specialized, or proprietary application or operation.

   Your choices are...
Coating / Pretreatment       Machines are capable of applying a pretreatment or coating after the cleaning process.
Multiple Chambers / Tanks       Parts cleaners consist of a series of chambers, cabinets or tanks. The different sections may provide different cleaning or rinsing solutions.
Scrubbers / Brushes       Parts cleaners include integral scrubber or rotary brushes.
Integral Drying       Parts washers have an auxiliary nozzle or air blow-gun for drying or air-washing parts. This category also includes machines with a heater or process dryer for thermal drying.
Integral Rinsing       Machines can rinse surfaces or parts after the washing process to remove residual cleaning solution.
Spray Assisted       Immersion, ultrasonic, or vapor degreaser systems use a spray, spray under solution, or solvent spray to assist in the cleaning process.
