PROFESSOR JOHN C. EARNSHAW (1944 1999)

John Earnshaw, Professor in the Department of Pure & Applied Physics at Queen s University, Belfast died in a tragic climbing accident in Ireland on 17th January 1999. He was born in Edinburgh and obtained both his B.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Durham. His thesis was on the muon content of cosmic ray air showers and he continued this work first as a Research Fellow at Durham and later as a Research...
