DEDICATIONS
When I was about ten years old, a car passed us with the rear window covered with stickers of U.S. National Parks that had apparently been visited by the unknown driver. I mentioned to my father how exciting it would be to have visited all those places. My father answered, "It is more important to be interested in where you are going than in where you have been." My father, Seward A. Rossman, is my key inspiration. While I was in college and early in my career he challenged me to become the best engineer possible and furnished many ideas on making a shop more flexible and functional at very low cost. I have included his ideas in this book, and I dedicate this book to him.
