Infrared Lenses (IR Lenses)
Avantier specializes in the design and manufacture of custom and stock infrared (IR) lenses tailored for advanced applications across diverse industries, including aerospace, defense, industrial automation, medical diagnostics, and scientific research. From prototype to large-scale production, our IR optics are built to deliver high performance and durability across the full infrared spectrum—from short-wave infrared (SWIR) and near-infrared (NIR) to mid-wave (MWIR) and long-wave infrared (LWIR).
Avantier Factory Standard (Manufacturing Capability):
| SWIR lens | MWIR lens | LWIR lens | NIR lens | |

| FOV | 25° | 13° | 128° | 25° |
Substrate Expertise:
Our IR lenses are fabricated using infrared-transparent materials, such as:
- Germanium (Ge)
- Zinc Selenide (ZnSe)
- Chalcogenide glass
- Zinc Sulfide (ZnS)
- Silicon (Si)
- Sapphire (Al2O3)
- Calcium Fluoride (CaF2)
- Cadmium Telluride (CdTe) – as needed for specialized applications
How to Select the Right Infared Lens
Lens selection starts with the spectral band—SWIR, MWIR, LWIR, or NIR—since this determines detector compatibility and application fit. Substrate matters just as much: fused silica, sapphire, germanium, silicon, and CaF2 each bring different transmission and durability tradeoffs suited to different environments. Fixed focal length lenses suit stable, defined imaging setups, while continuous zoom lenses fit applications needing variable field of view. Avantier's engineering team can help determine the exact lenses for your specific application, and support you from prototype to production.
