Automotive suspension spring - with SIMCO spring
Featured Product from Coiling Technologies, Inc.
Our latest Cap Ex program included an acquisition of a 25 mm SIMCO spring coiler. This coiler has the capacity to coil 13 - 25 mm (0.512 - 0.984") wire with a production rate of 30 pcs. per minute. This will provide us the ability to produce most any type of automotive suspension spring and will augment our 20 mm SIMCO spring coiler that has been in use since 2006.
With EV's becoming increasingly relevant and taking center stage with the major automotive manufacturers it only makes sense to continue to expand our capability producing large induction tempered wire suspension springs. As electrification continues to expand in the automotive space and the overall vehicle mass continues to move upward due to the demand for extended range battery packs and comfort features coil spring wire size will continue its upward trajectory in parallel. The increased mass of these vehicles will require a higher load capacity from the spring, hence the requirement to coil larger wire sizes. High Tensile carbon steel alloys which are the most common in automotive spring applications are hitting their limits in tensile strength capability. Therefore, larger wire sizes are the most cost-effective solution to maintaining reasonable stress levels when our engineers are deployed to design a spring.
