S. Himmelstein and Company has launched the MCRT® 84800V and 85800V Series Ultra-Precise Bearingless Digital Mechanical Power Meters. They are built for real-world accuracy, speed, and reliability in demanding industrial applications. The key new feature is simultaneous output of torque, speed, and power in both analog and digital form. High torsional stiffness gives a wider installed bandwidth and faster response than conventional torque sensors.

Specifications include 1 kHz measurement bandwidth, up to 400% overload and 300% overrange capability, temperature compensation of 0.0003%/°F, and 7,800 calculations per second. A carrier amplifier resists DC drift and low-frequency noise, and enhanced EMI resistance keeps performance stable in electrically noisy environments. Performance grades of ±0.04, ±0.02, or ±0.01% of full scale are available. Bi-directional rotor shunt calibration verifies the full measurement chain in both clockwise and counterclockwise operation.

The bearingless design tolerates wide rotor-to-stator misalignment, so installation needs no complex alignment tools. Connectivity includes RS422/485 or optional USB communication and built-in software for data visualization, limit checking, and test storage. Users can select from 25 engineering units without recalibration. Torque ranges run from 250 to 100,000 lbf-in (28.2 to 11,300 Nm), and speeds reach ±15,000 rpm. Typical applications include automotive and aerospace testing, powertrain and drivetrain analysis, pump systems, and R&D. Every unit ships with NIST-traceable calibration from Himmelstein’s ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited lab.
