Coupling Failed Again? Examine the Damage
Featured Product from jbj Techniques Limited
Before fitting another identical coupling element, examine what the failed component can tell you about the drive.
In the example shown, compression of the elastomer spider legs displaced material towards the centre, changing the originally circular opening into a square profile. That deformation provides evidence of the loading experienced.
Investigate the power, speed, starting conditions, shock loads, alignment and torsional behaviour alongside the damage.
A harder element may be suitable, but changing hardness also changes the coupling’s characteristics.
jbj Techniques can help assess the drive and specify a replacement based on the application rather than physical fit alone.
