MECO^® shaft seals, HB Seal for screw conveyors, and similar rotating equipment in applications with or without a barrier gas requirement.

The HB seal replaces standard wastepack housings. It comes in five, C.E.M.A.-standard sizes for US inch screws, and in eleven standard metric sizes. All are built using one of a series of five housings, designed to fit standard, 4-bolt flange bearings. Additional size shafts, up to 4.07" (103mm) can also be accommodated.

HB seal housings are available in hardcoat-anodized aluminum, type 316L stainless steel, or FDA Nylon.

The HB Seal cavity is charged with low-pressure air or gas, which acts as a barrier fluid to provide pneumatic seal face loading. This is a simple and effective way to check installation integrity and monitor seal performance. HB Seals ensure parallelism and flatness to maximize product containment and minimize barrier gas consumption. Alternatively, the HB seal my be reconfigured to operate without a barrier fluid, using a hose clamp to energize the seal faces. This model is known as our "HC" variation.
