Introducing Project Sharing to Enhance Team Collaboration

meviy has introduced a new Project Sharing feature designed to improve team collaboration across engineering organizations. This update enables multiple users to securely access, manage, and contribute to shared projects and project folders, supporting efficient collaboration throughout the design and product development workflow.

Key Capabilities

• Enable team collaboration across engineering, management, purchasing, and quality teams
• Share entire projects or project folders within a company
• Maintain centralized access to project data regardless of individual user changes
• Align project sharing with established design and product development processes

Project Sharing and Permissions

Projects can be shared with individual users, and all users within the same company account.

Permissions are managed by the original upload user:

• View access
• Edit access
• The original upload user can revoke project sharing permissions at any time
• Only one user may edit a model at a time to prevent conflicts during team collaboration

Project and Folder Management

• Entire project folders can be shared to support team collaboration at the project level
• New projects can be created within a shared folder by the original sharing user
• Updated project details and part numbers are visible to all users included in project sharing
• Shared projects are retained at the company level and are not removed if a user leaves the organization

Revision Control and Change Tracking

• History of Issued Part Numbers is available to track changes across shared projects
• Revision levels can be tracked using the Customer Order Number field
• Updates to part specifications and part numbers are immediately visible to all users participating in team collaboration

Cross-Functional Visibility

• Managers can review and approve part numbers before purchase
• Purchasing teams can view ordered parts and associated specifications
• Quality teams can access part data for verification and compliance within shared projects

Known Limitations

• Concurrent editing is not supported. Only one user can edit a model at a time
• Edit permissions must be explicitly granted by the original upload user
