As material handling systems become faster and more automated, conveyor technology requires increasingly precise synchronization and position control. Encoders play a critical role in monitoring belt speed, transported length, and shaft position to ensure reliable and efficient operation throughout production and logistics environments.

For many conveyor and transport applications, scaling signals in the PLC can add unnecessary complexity. POSITAL’s programmable incremental encoders with fractional PPR functionality provide a simpler and more flexible solution.

Why Fractional PPR?

Unlike conventional incremental encoders, POSITAL’s IXARC programmable encoders can generate pulse rates below one pulse per revolution or non-integer pulse outputs.

Examples include:

  • 0.125 PPR = 1 pulse every 8 shaft rotations
  • 3.5 PPR = 7 pulses every 2 rotations

This functionality simplifies control system setup in conveyor and web handling applications by reducing or eliminating PLC scaling calculations.

Key Benefits at a Glance

  • Programmable incremental outputs
  • Fractional PPR functionality from 0.125 to 8 PPR
  • Simplified PLC integration
  • Push-pull (HTL) and RS422 (TTL) interfaces
  • Durable magnetic sensing technology
  • IP66/IP67 environmental protection
  • Wide range of mechanical configurations
