The SMF and SXF family of high voltage diodes are hermetically sealed, glass-body diodes that have been over-molded with epoxy to produce uniform shape and flatness. The leads are then trimmed and formed. Overmolding also increases isolation between terminals.

Another advantage VMI has added to the SMF and SXF diode manufacturing is the film-assisted molding and laser marking. Film-assisted molding improves reliability and manufacturability of parts and the addition of the laser marking includes a 2D barcode providing lot traceability for each diode produced.
