Description

Surface Mount Technology (SMT) Varistors are electronic components designed to protect circuits from overvoltage conditions. They function as voltage-dependent resistors, where their resistance decreases as the voltage increases, forming a low-resistance path to shunt excess voltage away from sensitive components.

Working Principle

SMT Varistors operate by utilizing a ceramic-based structure that changes resistance in response to voltage levels. When the voltage across the varistor exceeds a certain threshold, its resistance drops significantly, allowing it to conduct current and divert the excess voltage away from the protected circuit. Applications

Advantages over other Varistors
