Description

Vibrating conveyors, also known as oscillating conveyors, consist of a trough supported by tuned springs and/or hinged links with a drive system. This system is designed to oscillate the trough, causing solid particles to move along it.

Working Principle

Vibrating conveyors operate based on vibrational energy that causes materials to move along a smooth trough. The trough is equipped with vibratory components that make it shake lengthwise. This vibration causes the material particles to "hop" with the vibration frequency towards one end of the trough. Vibrating conveyors offer the advantage of causing low material degradation, which is beneficial when handling fragile materials. Unlike some other conveyor types, they can operate at high temperatures, making them suitable for specific industrial applications where heat is a factor.

Limitations

Vibrating conveyors have several limitations. They are not suitable for transporting fine powders or cohesive materials, as these can stick to the conveyor and be discharged in agglomerated lumps. Additionally, vibrating conveyors are not ideal for long-distance transport or high inclines, limiting their use in certain applications.

Considerations

When considering vibrating conveyors, it's important to evaluate initial costs, operating expenses, and maintenance requirements. These systems may have lower material degradation, but they are limited in terms of distance and incline capabilities.
