On-Demand Webinar:

Industrial Automation & Robotic Systems

Date: April 10, 2013
Time: 1 PM EDT (10 AM PDT / 7:30 PM CEST)
Duration: 0.5 hour

Overview

"The Cloud" has been touted as an answer to computing problems, making applications easily accessible and providing cost-effective computing and usability. It transcends boundaries and IT departments, allowing users to contract or expand without the bother of acquiring new hardware, updated software, or viewing devices. But these are mostly consumer-oriented benefits. What does a manufacturer or industrial organization need to consider when porting their process control and operations management applications to the cloud? This presentation will examine the incremental steps manufacturers can take to make themselves "cloud ready." Attendees will learn about cloud considerations such as infrastructure, hosting, and internal readiness. They will also explore those manufacturing applications that have the most likelihood of benefiting from a cloud-based environment.

Key Takeaways

  • Learn what is meant by the "cloud?"
  • Discover cloud-based applications in your operations
  • Understand how virtualization can be used as a stepping stone to a cloud-based architecture for manufacturing applications
  • Learn about cloud considerations such as infrastructure, hosting, and internal readiness
