The power steering pump was throttled to 800 psig by the use of a needle valve. The low pressure line was routed through a heat exchanger before returning oil to the reservoir tank. The regulated 14.7 volt output from the alternator was isolated from the 12 volt battery bus by a zener diode and connected to bank of power watt resistors, which had total 0.2 Ohm (three 0.6 Ohm resistors in parallel).
