Introduction

Now that the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis has been performed it is time to begin examining what actual strategy(ies) or strategy type(s) are appropriate for the organization. Obviously, choosing such a strategy is such an important activity that one should be very careful. After all, you are charting the course that your organization will be following for some time to come. At the same time, when you look at strategy choices and ultimate selection, you should do so on at least three distinct levels. Chapter 6, will look at selecting strategies at the business and functional levels, while here you will be looking at selecting corporate-level strategies.
