Black Hat Physical Device Security: Exploiting Hardware and Software

Summary

Information can be protected to a degree in devices, both in storage and while in transit, should companies choose to implement cryptography at the level at which their devices operate. The examples shown here were given in an extremely high-level language ("high" meaning abstracted far away from the hardware device), and should those operating constraints be hacked on the system performing those functions, the CSP itself might fall prey to possible exposures. You must rely on something, and choosing to rely on cryptographic functions is a good start if you have to make a choice between having information security or not.
