The second part of the book looks at what happens when broadband information arrives at the home. How is it delivered around the home? This part comprises five chapters which introduce the home area network, talk about the practical issues of installing the home network, describe the residential gateway, and outline the network technologies, with the final chapter discussing the standards required for home networking.
This chapter assesses commercial developments, against the backdrop of a difficult time for the telecommunications industry, in order to give a view of the future when, where and how the digital home will emerge.
