(Basic Object Adapter) The BOA is one instance of an objectadapter (OA) and serves on the server side as a mediatorbetween the ORB and the object implementation. As itsname implies, the BOA offers only primitive services. TheBOA's specifications were insufficiently precise and led to alack in portability in view of vendors' augmentation of thestandard. In CORBA version 2.1 the BOA was replaced bythe POA.
CG
(Conceptual Graph) A knowledge representation techniquebased on a bipartite graph consisting of concepts and relations.Conceptual Graphs allow the representation of arbitraryinformation in a formalized way. Conceptual graphsare used in MICO for a generic user interface to the DII thatallows the invocation of user-definable operations at runtime.
CGI
(Common Gateway Interface) A specification for transferringinformation between a WWW server and a CGI program. ACGI program is any program designed to accept and returndata that conforms to the CGI specification. The programcould be written in any programming language, including C,Perl, Java, or Visual Basic.
CORBA
(Common Object Request Broker Architecture) An architecturethat enables objects to communicate with one anotherregardless of what programming language they werewritten in or what operating system they are running on.CORBA was developed by an industry consortium known asthe Object Management Group (OMG).
