Inmarsat Ltd is a 75 member-country internationally owned cooperative, which operates and maintains the Inmarsat Ground Network (IGN) constellation of nine GEO satellites and many Earth stations in mobile service (MES and LES). Founded in 1979, the company has over 22 years experience in designing, implementing and operating innovative satellite communication networks and MSC configurations. Inmarsat delivers its services through an IGN of approximately 260 partners in over 80 countries including some of the world's largest telecommunications companies. Thus, Inmarsat offers a portfolio of visionary MSS and FSS for governments and enterprises requiring reliable voice, data and video communication on land, at sea or in the air, with over 98% of the Earth's surface (excepting the polar regions). Inmarsat also provides connectivity in regions of developed and developing countries were there is no TTN service available.
Inmarsat was the world's first international and nongovernmental GMSC operator and is still the only one to offer a mature range of modern communications services to maritime, land, aeronautical and other mobile or semi-fixed users. Formed as a commercial shipping and fishing maritime-focused intergovernmental organization, Inmarsat has been a limited company since 1999, serving a broad range of markets.
