Heat Transmission Coefficients for Walls, Roofs, Ceilings and Floors

Section VI: Heat Transmission Coefficient Data Sheets

OVERVIEW

This section contains heat transmission coefficient data sheets for opaque building components (walls, roofs, ceilings, and floors). The data sheets are divided into three major sections:

  1. Description of Building Component

A line item description of the building materials used in the assembly of the building component including dimensions and thermal conductivity. The solid material thermal conductivity values listed are taken from the appropriate tables of Chapter 22 of the 1989 ASHRAE Handbook Fundamentals unless the thermal conductivity was measured experimentally in conjunction with the hot box tests. In that case, the measured thermal conductivity is listed and designated with an asterisk ( *). If surface emittance values were also measured, they are included in the materials description. In addition, a sketch of the building component's cross section (through which heat flows) is provided.

  2. Thermal Performance Results

Values of the experimental, analytical, and ASHRAE recommended thermal transmittance (U-factor) is reported.

  3. Detailed Experimental Data

The back of each data sheet lists detailed information regarding the experimental test data.
