The Pocket Guide to the Baldrige Award Criteria, Eleventh Edition

Category 2.0 asks about how the organization does its planning and what its plans are. Item 2.1 asks for a description of the planning process and a summary of the major objectives or goals. Item 2.2 asks about how plans are communicated, what action plans or initiatives will be used to achieve the goals or objectives, and for a forecast of where the organization will be if it achieves all its goals.
Describe how your organization establishes its strategy and strategic objectives, including how you address your strategic challenges. Summarize your organizations key strategic objectives and their related goals.
This item builds on the Leadership category and asks how the organization takes the mission and vision and develops goals, objectives, and action plans for achieving them. It is important that a variety of internal and external factors are considered when planning. It is also important that planning is done quickly and efficiently. More important than the process is the content of the plan. Objectives or goals should link back to challenges or threats faced by the organization, as well as its vision for the future. Goals/objectives should cover all areas of performance, including financial, customer/market, employees, and products/services.
